Decide to be happy !
He who reflects on things finds happiness, and he who trusts in the Lord is happy. Proverbs 16.20
Sometimes there are slogans that jump out at you. This was the case while watching a television report on a goat cheese factory. At the entrance to the farm, there was a sign on which was written : “I have decided to be happy, because it is good for your health ! »
I don't know if eating goat cheese makes you happy, especially if it's organic : it's certainly a matter of taste. That said, there is in this slogan a desire to do everything possible to be happy. Concretely, it starts from a well-considered decision, at least that of evacuating as much as possible the unnecessary tensions that we sometimes inflict on ourselves. It is not a question of being in denial, but of telling oneself that we are not going to accept sinking into sorrow or melancholy.
This is also what our verse says : there is reflection, but this alone is not enough. It goes hand in hand with trusting in God.
The verb unload yourselves in the first reading that we offer below can also be translated as "throw on him"... all your worries.
Don't be afraid to cast your worries on Jesus and then trust in Him.
Bernard Delépine
