Defeat your Goliath !

Searching the Scriptures

You are marching against me with the sword, the spear and the javelin ; I am walking against you in the name of the Lord, the Lord of the universe, in the name of the God of the host of Israel, whom you have insulted. 1 Samuel 17:45

You don't have to climb Mount Everest or defeat an entire army to be a hero. You are the hero of your own life. The way you look at yourself and the perception you have of God will characterize your way of living !

When the Philistine Goliath openly challenged Saul and his warriors, none of these brave soldiers dared to rise to the challenge. Everyone was in awe and horror at the appearance of this giant who came to taunt and ridicule them every day.

He continued his sarcasm for 40 days, until God sent reinforcement to Saul in the person of a shepherd named David. For David, no question of fleeing ! The only giant he knew was God ! So he said to the Philistine :

"You walk against me with the sword, the spear and the javelin, and I walk against you in the name of the Lord, the Lord of the universe, in the name of the God of the host of Israel whom you you have insulted. Today the Lord will deliver you into my hand" (1 Samuel 17.45,46). He took a stone, threw it with his slingshot at the giant's forehead and the giant sagged, "face down on the ground."

Are you terrified of something standing in your way that is preventing you from moving forward ? Don't be intimidated ! The heroes don't back down ! They walk with God and face their opponents !

Listen to the voice of God

Let’s take the time to listen to what God means. Is there a "Goliath" standing in front of you ? Ask God to remind you who he is and who you are in him.

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, I choose to walk with you and fight my adversary with the sword of your spirit which is the Word."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. What are your subjects of recognition today ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, I thank you for you have bet on me and you make me the hero of my own life. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
