Desire to adopt
He predestined us to be his adopted children through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1.5
In order to stimulate discussion, a teacher shows her young pupils a photo of a family.
– Oh, look, observes a child, this little boy does not have the same hair color as the rest of the family !
“He may have been adopted,” suggests a kid.
– I know everything about adoption, says a little girl, because I myself was adopted.
- Is that so ? But what does “being adopted” mean ?
– This means that we grew up in the heart of our mother and not in her womb.
What a beautiful picture ! A real mom is the one who cherishes her child.
Adoption is also a divine reality. God's deep desire is to become the Father of countless human beings so that his Son Jesus Christ will be the eldest of many brothers and sisters (Romans 8:29). Why ? For there is no greater happiness than that of living in his presence. This is the incomparable destiny of all those who agree to be adopted !
Know that without Christ we are strangers to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world (Ephesians 2:12). Yes, we are strangers to the family of God. Only a spiritual birth provides a new status : from strangers, we become children of God. By giving his life for us, Jesus paved the way for adoption. Attention volunteers !
