Did you fail ?

Search the Scriptures

I will be for you all, this night, an occasion of fall. Matthew 26.31

On the eve of his death, Jesus declared : "I will cause you all to stumble tonight ; for it is written : I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered. But after my resurrection I will I will go before Galilee" (Matthew 26:31-32).

If even the disciples can fall, those who have spent three and a half years with Jesus, heard his messages and seen his miracles, anyone can fail. Despite this warning, Peter does not feel concerned and says to Jesus : "If you are an occasion for everyone to fall, you will never be for me." (Matthew 26.33). At this moment, he would have done better to be silent.

Peter trusted in his own strength. However, they were going to be shattered. Jesus knew it : “Simon, Simon, Satan has called for you to sift you like wheat. brethren" (Luke 22:31-32).

Satan was going to test Peter, but his efforts were in vain. Why ? Because Peter was strong ? No, because Jesus was and said : "I prayed for you." The most marvelous thing is that Jesus prays for you too : "Holy Father, keep them in your name, this name you have given me […] It is not for them only that I pray, but also for those who believe in me through their word" (John 17:11, 20). Will God answer Christ's prayer for you ? In your opinion ? Sure !

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Perhaps you have failed : let your Father pick you up now and do a new thing in your life.

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, I ask your forgiveness for all the times when I relied on my own strength, because I thought I was infallible. Thank you because you continue to intercede on my behalf and lift me up. Amen."

Praise God

Let's take a time to thank the Lord today. “Lord, thank you for your limitless benevolence towards me. I bless you for your faithfulness ; when I am unfaithful and proud, you do not change. You continue to love me and welcome me with open arms."

Act today

Do you recognize yourself in Pierre's attitude ? If so, do not wait to feel worthy : accept with humility the hand that Jesus extends to you to help you get up.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Jesus, thank you for your kindness, your grace and your love. Yours is the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
