Disposable, recyclable or restorable ?

We have been living for decades in the era of disposable everything, well almost everything... Razor blades, tissues, packaging, plastics... right up to your spouse. But a change is initiated with the notion of recyclable. Each citizen is invited to sort compostable waste, paper and cardboard, glass, plastic bottles, to give them another life. However, some things escape this completely disposable or recyclable. Master paintings, antique furniture, remains unearthed in excavations, the decorations of prestigious castles... There, all efforts are made to restore in order to find the original : many hours of work are paid to renowned specialists.

When I read the Bible, and in particular the Gospels, I realize that I am, in the eyes of God, neither disposable nor recyclable. I am this precious being, certainly damaged by sin, but for whom God wants to find "the original" through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. In the Gospel of John, we read that this is the case with anyone. (John 3.16) But God does not automatically restore, he expects the adhesion of this “whoever”. It is specified that it is whoever believes in Jesus.

Be convinced, you are this work of art that God does not want to throw away or recycle but to restore.

13.10 Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day.

13.11 And behold, there was a woman there possessed of a spirit which had crippled her for eighteen years ; she was bent over, and couldn't straighten up at all.

13.12 When he saw her, Jesus spoke to her and said to her : Woman, you have been delivered from your infirmity.

13:13 And he laid his hands on her. Instantly she straightened up and glorified God.

13.14 But the rulers of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus had wrought this healing on the Sabbath day, said to the crowd : There are six days to work ; come therefore to be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath day.

13.15 Hypocrites ! answered the Lord, does not each one of you, on the Sabbath day, untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, to lead it to drink ?

13.16 And this woman, who is a daughter of Abraham, and whom Satan had held bound for eighteen years, was it not necessary to deliver her from this chain on the sabbath day ?

13.17 While he spoke thus, all his adversaries were confused, and the crowd rejoiced at all the glorious things he was doing.
