Divine favor will be upon you !

“You crown the year with your goodness, and your passage brings abundance.” Psalm 65.12

With the year 2021 drawing to a close, you may be reviewing the events of this year. For some of you, it has been a year full of blessings, a happy birth, the marriage of a loved one, an achievement that you no longer expected. For others, it has been a difficult year, anno horribilis to use Queen Elizabeth II's expression. You have had to face illness, divorce perhaps, financial difficulties, against the backdrop of the Covid pandemic which has changed the situation so much in our lives. David had been through difficult times, yet he cried : “Your passage brings abundance !” He knew how to express his gratitude to God and we should take his example ! For God has put a crown of favor on our life. Usually only kings and queens wear a crown, but Peter declares : “you are an elected race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people” (1 Peter 2.9). Divine grace crowns the coming year, ensuring that His mercies will be renewed daily (Lamentations 3:22-23). Why will the year be full of blessings ? Because God answers our prayers (v. 2), that He forgives our faults (v. 3), that He grants us the riches of His house (v. 4), that He protects us (v. 6-7), that He is almighty (v. 8), that He brings the rains in their season and makes the earth fruitful. Even though the year 2021 has been difficult for you, trust Him and believe that He will "crown your new year with His blessings."
