Divine protection

Joshua, the pastor of a church in Africa, had been imprisoned and was to be executed. He had tirelessly preached the message of God's love and forgiveness. But the secret police had informed the country's dictator of their activity, and orders had been given for the pastor to be arrested. Joshua knew that before being executed, prisoners were tortured. He begged the Lord :

- I am afraid, Lord, help me. I'm not afraid of dying, but of being tortured and denying you. Please make the first hit deadly.

Let's listen to the following :

- Suddenly, a light illuminated my cell and I heard a voice saying to me : "You are not alone, I am with you". All my fears disappeared then. I got down on my knees praising the Lord. I was certainly singing very loudly, because the door to my cell opened, and two police officers dragged me out. I thought the time had come when I was going to die, but I kept talking to the Lord. When the officer saw me, he said to the police : "Did you hear how he sings ? This man is completely mad. It doesn't make sense to kill him. Throw him out." The next moment, I was free !

This Christian had the same experience as many others : "The Lord will watch over your going and your coming, now and forever" (Psalm 121.8). Our God has not changed. He provides protection and help to every believer.
