Do I Need a Savior ?

Sunday March 21, 2021

Lord, deliver my soul, save me because of your lovingkindness. (Psalm 6.5)

There is only one God and there is only one mediator between God and men : one man, Jesus Christ, who gave himself as a ransom for all. (1 Timothy 2.5, 6)

Do I Need a Savior ?

I truly believe in God, I admit that the gospel is true, I receive the proofs of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Isn't that enough ? No, to be saved you still have to feel the need to be delivered from your sins. So who can save me from the punishment I deserve for my own guilt ? Who can answer the offense done to God when man crucified Jesus, he the righteous, his messenger, the only beloved Son of God the Father ?

The love of God answers : Jesus alone !

He whom man has despised, hated, rejected, crucified, he alone, holy and pure victim, was able to bear on the cross the punishment that all our offenses deserved.

O Christ ! your deep charity

Touch and penetrate our heart,

You die for the sin of the world :

You alone are our Savior God !

Jesus, whose name means Savior God, is the one towards whom we must look up to be saved. Saved means to be fully assured that by believing on his name we have perfect deliverance from all the evil that is in our hearts. And much more, now this heart can be filled with the gifts of Jesus. “I leave you in peace ; I give you my peace” (John 14. 27), he said to his disciples before going to the cross.

In you, Savior God, I have peace of heart ;

You did everything for me ; And on your justice

My faith is based.
