Do not be distracted from the essentials

"Another part fell among the thorns: the thorns went up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit." Mark 4.7

A thousand and one things can grab our thoughts in our everyday lives. Our goods... the distractions... the cares of this world... and even the passionate search for certain things - good or bad - can drag our minds and hearts into a whirlwind of activity.

"Do not be interested in what the devil does, but look to God."

We live in a time when technology is ubiquitous ; There are all kinds of gadgets that can satisfy almost all our needs. In the past, when you wrote a letter, it could take months to get to your destination. Today, you can talk to someone on the other side of the world as if they were in the room next door.

I am not saying that all these things are necessarily bad, but simply that they may distract us and divert us from our priorities. And that's what the enemy is looking for. Satan has mastered the art of disrupting us. He constantly seeks to separate us from the path of our walk with God. And he does it among other things by deconcentrating us. If it distracts our attention from our shortcomings, our concerns, or the behavior of others, it prevents us from focusing on what is important or right.

I spent most of my first years of Christian life focusing on what was wrong with me. This is probably the case for most of us because we hope to change. But remember that by doing so, we play the game of the devil. Today, I focus my attention on faith... I apply myself to love God... to do good to others. I still make mistakes, but I ask for forgiveness, I turn the page and I refocus on what is right.

Today, I encourage you to refocus. Do not be distracted by your mistakes. Look at your strengths instead. Do not be obsessed with what's wrong with the world. Look for what is positive. Do not dwell on a loss that you have endured indefinitely... consider what you still have. In other words, do not care what the devil does, but look to God. He does a lot of good things !

Be careful, I'm not asking you to stick your head in the sand, but simply to keep your priorities. There will always be opportunities to be troubled. That's life. But it's a waste of time trying to change what can not be.

An action for today

Every day is a gift from God. Learn to look to the donor and take full advantage of what he offers you !
