Do not give in to panic

"You are now on the point of fighting your enemies, do not lose heart, do not be afraid, do not tremble or panic before your enemies, for the Lord your God is walking with you : he will fight for you against your enemies and he will save you." Deuteronomy 20.3-4

Forty years ago, the people of Israel are about to return to the promised land and to seize the long-awaited blessing. Unfortunately, voices full of doubts and fears rise, sowing panic and anguish among the people ! As a result, the Hebrews will go around in the wilderness for four decades. What a tragedy !

"Do not give in to panic because the Lord himself is walking before you !"

Now, Moses is old, he has seen a generation pass and die in this arid land for lack of courage. The promised land is again within reach and Moses invites the people to strengthen themselves : "Do not be afraid, do not tremble and do not panic before your enemies, for the Lord your God is walking with you... he will save you !"

Lack of courage, fear are crippling factors. They prevent us from appropriating the divine promises ! This is why the Lord encourages us not to worry, to keep our spirits up to the obstacles that stand in the way of the promises He holds. Yes, let us not be afraid because the Lord our God walks with us ! His hand is on our lives !

You are paralyzed in front of the job interview looming on the horizon... You are paralyzed to have to speak in public to bear witness... You are anxious to talk with a loved one in view of a reconciliation... You are worried about the step of faith requested by God... Do not give in to panic because the LORD himself walks in front of you ! His promises are yes and amen.

A prayer for today

Lord, I want to realize that you are here, your promises are yes and amen. I do not want to panic anymore, give me courage, amen.
