"Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and rely not on thy wisdom : Recognize it in all thy ways, and make thy paths straight" Proverbs 3.5-6
Have you noticed that it is not easy to describe feelings of fear or anxiety ? In how many occasions have they taken precedence over your faith ?
Do you recognize yourself in the following account ?
With God, you have solid support ...
A man hesitated to cross the Mississippi at dusk, at the time of the conquest of the American West. The river was frozen, and the man did not know the thickness of the ice ; He nevertheless engaged in it. But crawling, so as to distribute his weight on the ice, he advanced painfully.
He had reached the middle of the river, when he saw a wagon full of coal, harnessed to four horses, to cross it easily. He then realized that if the ice could bear such a weight, he did not have to fear standing up and crossing the distance that still separated him from the other side. He was now quite confident.
Do not live in fear anymore, for Jesus calls you to trust him completely.
Look around you, all those who have relied on the word of God and have experienced the solidity of his promises! Consider their lives. Are they not living testimonies of the faithfulness of God ?
With him, you have strong support, and you can trust him for all the crossing of your life.
A commitment for today
Lord, I do not want to rely on my own wisdom. Today I make a commitment to take an extra step of faith with you by recognizing you in all my ways, in spite of the difficult circumstances in my life, for you have smoothed my paths.
