Do not touch the anointed of God !

1 Samuel 24:7 And he said to his men : "May the LORD keep me from doing such deed against my lord, the LORD's anointed, as to lay my hand on him. for he is the Lord’s anointed”.

You are certainly familiar with that passage of Scripture that is often used to say that we must absolutely do nothing or say nothing about a servant of God. It goes without saying that a number of men and women use this passage of Scripture so as not to be challenged in any way, a way of saying to us : “Think no more, but obey it. anointed with God”. However, God has endowed us with gray matter and He does not ask us not to use it, on the contrary.

I would like to focus on my understanding of certain passages of Scripture relating to this subject. First, let's think about our verse for the day for a few moments. Saul, the one who never tires of wanting to kill David, is within his reach and he can kill him easily, so he has the possibility of getting rid of his enemy. However David is going to say : "May the Lord keep me from doing such an action against my lord, the Lord's anointed one, as to lay my hand on him ! for he is the Lord’s anointed”. You will see that it was not Saul who claimed to be the Lord's anointed but it was David who recognized that Saul was anointed by the Lord and made the decision not to harm him.

We can also read in the Word : “Touch not mine anointed, neither do my prophets harm” (1 Chronicles 16:22). Who is speaking ? Is this the Lord's anointed ? No, it is God Himself who stands up for his anointed ones.

Another passage in Isaiah 65. It is the Lord who speaks, He says that no one seeks him, that the people provoke him openly and without stopping... I invite you to read this chapter of Scripture. From verse 5, the Lord says : "They say to the people : Do not approach, do not touch me, it would be dangerous for you, for I am consecrated to God" (Isaiah 65.5). The Lord goes on to say : "When I see everything you do, my anger catches fire." It goes without saying that there are men (and women) who proclaim themselves not to "touch" them on the pretext that they are consecrated (anointed). This fact makes God angry.

My friends, the true anointed of God does not have to defend himself, nor to frighten people by proclaiming : "Be careful what you do to me or what you say". No, it is God Himself who takes care of defending his anointed ! He will just make you recognize that such and such a person is anointed by Him and He will put it on your heart not to do or say anything about them.

I do not mean in this thought that we can slander and slander, quite the contrary. My purpose is there to free those who are under a yoke of fear because of “pretended” servants of God who think they are the Almighty ! I think that in the times that we are going through, it is important to pause for a moment on this subject.

Good reflection.
