Do you have this hope ?

“May your heart not be troubled ! Believe in God, believe in me too.” John 14. 1

Before leaving His disciples, Jesus told them these words : “Do not let your heart be troubled ! Believe in God, also believe in me. There are many mansions in my Father's house. If it wasn't, I would have told you. I'll make you a place. And since I am going to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you with me so that, where I am, you may also be there” (John 14. 1-3). What did He leave them beyond these words ? Hope ! Greg Laurie quotes a well-known cardiologist who wrote in his biography : “The remedy that I use more than any other is called hope ! This remedy can cure almost any disease !" Jesus knew that His disciples were afraid. Judas had just separated from them to betray Jesus, and Jesus announced to them that He was also going to leave them. For them it was the end of a dream. Wasn't Jesus going to reveal Himself to everyone as the Messiah, and free Israel from the yoke of the Romans ? How to keep hope when the circumstances seem hopeless ? How do you feel today when you see your world crumble before your eyes ? Will you regain the joy, the peace and perhaps the carefree life you once enjoyed? Why keep this hope ?

1- Because Jesus gave us His word. “Believe in God, believe in Jesus”. Do you still believe in the policies you voted for ? Do you really trust technology, money, science ? Jesus affirms : “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even if he dies” (John 11. 25 KJV 21).

2- Because your hope concerns a destination that Jesus has already reached : the home of God. His resurrection proves to us that our death is only a door that opens to eternity in His presence.

3- Because Jesus will return (1 Thessalonians 4, 16-17). But He won't take everyone, only those who have trusted Him before. Don't wait until He comes back to find out that He ignored you ! Here is the day of salvation !
