Do you know who you belong to ?

"I have written these things unto you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, ye that believe in the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5.13

It was in China, in a remote countryside. An elderly and widowed woman, her face wrinkled, her clothes in rags, defended her cause before the judge as well as she could. Her malevolent neighbors tried to rob her of her land. By lying, they claimed that it belonged to them.
The old woman was alone, without much education, and her neighbors knew how to speak. She saw the moment when the adversaries were unjustly won.
Thank you Lord Jesus for revealing Himself to me ...

Suddenly she began to look for something in her clothes. (In this region they had the habit of concealing the precious things under their clothes from the body.) Triumphantly she took out a dirty little paper : it was the act of property established in her name !

The judge had a great respect for "what is written". This paper reversed the situation. This authentic act confounded the usurpers. The verdict was returned, and the old woman was able to return to her house by the title of property which she had so well preserved, and of which her adversaries were ignorant.

When the devil seeks to accuse you, to question the eternal salvation of your soul, present the title deed establishing that you are a child of God, that Jesus is your savior. This valuable document, you have it (John 1.12 and 1 John 3.1).

A prayer for today

Thank you Lord Jesus for revealing yourself to me and redeeming me at the price of your life. Thank you because I am a "child of God" and no one can take me from your hand. Amen.
