Do you know your real identity? (3)

“It is through Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become, by the will of God, our wisdom, our righteousness, the source of our holiness and our deliverer.” 1 Corinthians 1.30

Jesus doesn't just want to come into us and make His home in our hearts. He wants to live in us and through us. And if His life is expressed through our behavior, our words or our thoughts, nothing is now impossible for us. Certainly, by the presence of His Spirit, He lives in us, but He operates through us on condition that we have our cooperation. He is not a “ventriloquist” who would express inanimate puppets, but He accompanies us as we bear witness to our faith to our fellow neighbors or friends. If we neglect to read the Bible, asking Him to instill in our hearts a real desire for His word is reasonable, but don't imagine that your Bible will suddenly find itself on your knees, open to the right page ! If we are to be effective, His Word tells us : “Surrender yourselves to God as the rescued dead and put your members at His service as instruments of righteousness” (Romans 6:13). Because living the Christian life is impossible despite our best efforts. It is the result of our faith from start to finish. But our faith depends on a relationship with the living Christ who wants us to identify with Him to the point that others will not be able to differentiate us. Wisdom, justification, sanctification and freedom will thus be expressed through us, in our daily life, provided that we identify with Him without reservation. “What is my real identity ?” you will ask ! That of someone who has been forever forgiven of all sin, accepted into His family, and loved by God without a second thought on His part. Understanding this truth will encourage you to grow and develop your spiritual maturity.
