Do you want to be healed ?

“Lord, I have no one to throw me into the pool” John 5. 7

The sick man to whom Jesus asks the question : “Do you want to be healed ?” was probably paralyzed, at least he couldn't move. It was logical and absolutely certain that this man could not jump into the water. Nevertheless, Jesus expected something else from him. Knowing that the man had been sick for 38 years, one would have expected him to immediately and emphatically answer 'yes' to Jesus, but instead he did not say that he would like to be healed. , on the contrary he gives a long explanation : “Lord, I have no one to throw me into the pool when the water is rough, and while I am going there another goes down before me” (John 5. 7). We often react the same way. We take pleasure in our 'situations' : "It's been 20 years since I converted, it's not now that I'm going to change !" Or in the face of our weaknesses or our addictions we justify ourselves or seek excuses, rather than seeking character transformation or deliverance. But Jesus invites us to take a step of faith : “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proof of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). What are the things you hope for ? Jesus went so far as to die on the cross where “He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:17) and before dying He said “it is finished”. You may be telling yourself, like this patient, that you have no friends to help you take the plunge, that no one is looking after you. Know that the Lord cares about you ! No situation is too complicated for Him who by His word created the whole universe. At the edge of this pool were many sick people, but Jesus approached the one who had no help from anyone. After 38 years of waiting, this person was able to live upright and move forward one step after another. Let the Word of God lift you up today ! “Get up, Jesus said to her, take up your bed and walk. Immediately this man was healed ; he took up his bed and walked” (John 5:8).
