Domesticate God ?

They said to him : “Lord, always give us this bread." John 6.34

“Why doesn't God answer my prayers ? Why doesn't he give me what I want ? These are two questions I have heard often. Doesn't God hear our prayers ? Does he not meet our needs, as we see in the proposed text ?

People want to make Jesus a King who will always give them what they ask for. But God is "the Lord" and not a "distributor" of earthly food.

Do we want to force him to give us what we want ? God does not allow himself to be manipulated or domesticated to respond to our dissatisfaction. Jesus does not give the bread of life, but he is the bread of life that came down from heaven.

He is what we must seek in order to have eternal life ! Everything we need is in him. Are we looking for Jesus for what he gives ? Or for what he really is, namely the Savior and Lord who offers true Life to those who humbly ask for it ?
