Don't adopt a grasshopper mentality ! (1)

“In our eyes and theirs, we were like grasshoppers.” Numbers 13. 33

You will never know what spiritual temper you are made of if you never have to face an enemy much stronger than you. It is the day when you will have to measure yourself against a seemingly invincible adversary that you will discover the depth of your faith. The twelve spies that Moses sent to explore the land where Israel was to settle saw the same thing : a fertile land rich in honey, milk and giants ! Joshua and Caleb noticed them too. Faith does not prevent us from seeing the obvious. To be aware of the problems to be faced is not the expression of a doubting heart. It's not a sin either. Paul said : "We wanted to come to you, at least I Paul, once or twice, but Satan stopped us." (1 Thessalonians 2. 18). How could you overcome what you refuse to see ? What made Joshua and Caleb different from other spies was their approach to the difficulties that lay ahead. the first ten spies said : “We saw the giants there, the descendants of Anak who descended from the giants. In our eyes and theirs, we were like grasshoppers.” But Joshua and Caleb cried out : “Do not be rebellious against the Eternal, neither be afraid of the people of this land, for they will serve us as food, they have no shade to cover them, the Eternal. is with us, do not be afraid of them” (Numbers 14:9). True faith is enriched by the assaults of the enemy. True faith is to say : “But attack ! The Lord is by my side. It is He who has destroyed the power of the enemy to hurt me.” The report of the ten spies provoked three reactions among the people :

1- They were afraid. Fear knows no logic : how could they forget so quickly all that God had done for them ?

2- Some wanted to return to Egypt, find what they knew well, the relative comfort of their past !

3- Some wanted to settle in the desert ! Don't forget to follow "the cloud" otherwise you risk starving on the spot, for lack of manna ! Is the God you serve greater than the giants you meet on your way ? Said He was ! Do you believe it ?
