Don't meddle in other people's business !
“Some of you are not taking responsibility, doing nothing but meddling in other people's business.” 2 Thessalonians 3.11 New Version English Fluent
Meddling in other people's business is a very lucrative business, judging by the public interest in tabloids or reality TV shows. But it is an activity that God disapproves of for His children. One day Peter, discussing with Jesus, after His resurrection, turns to see John, the disciple “whom Jesus loved” who was following them. He asks Jesus : “And him, Lord, what will happen to him ?” Jesus answered him : “If I want him to stay until I come, what does it matter to you ? You follow Me.” Or, to put it another way : "It's none of your business, it's Mine and I'm not accountable to you !" We can tax Pierre with simple curiosity or imagine that his intentions were good like : “If you need help, confide in me and I will do my best to help you”. However, our support for our brothers leaves no room for curiosity or the temptation to put oneself in God's place. Do you know the story of that dear sister who offered this prayer at a church prayer meeting : “Lord, have compassion on Mrs. Mr. Y who is married...” Sometimes a little anonymity is necessary. Nine times out of ten our desire to meddle in other people's business is a devious way of not dealing with our own weaknesses. This sister may have been struggling with an unacknowledged desire herself for someone else in her church ! Sometimes some of us ask too many prying questions about our brothers and sisters pretending to be interested in them in order to pray for them, when in fact they have fallen into the trap of "what will we". Solomon also wrote : “To meddle in a dispute that does not concern you is to grab a passing dog by the ears” (Proverbs 26:17). Dogs are particularly sensitive when their ears are touched. Meddling in other people's business is not so different !
