Don't press

The whole head is sick and the whole heart is failing. From the sole of the foot to the head, there is nothing in him that is healthy : everything is wound, and bruising, and sharp wounds. (Isaiah 1.5, 6)

I am the Lord who heals you. (Exodus 15. 26)

Don't press

A doctor consulted by a patient always begins by questioning and examining him before prescribing a drug. He rests his hand in various places on the body without the patient saying much, until the finger is placed on a sensitive point. Then the pain drew a cry from the patient : "Don't press any more, doctor, you are hurting me !"

This is what happens when you touch consciousness. As long as we talk generally about the evil that reigns in the world, the usefulness of having a religion, the existence of God, all is well ; we mostly agree. But if we bring up the need for personal repentance, we touch a sensitive point, we provoke this cry : "Do not press !"

You are not born a Christian. We do not become baptized by being baptized, but we really become baptized by receiving Jesus, the Son of God, as personal Savior, after having recognized that we are guilty in front of him.

Here is the sore point : if you are told about the evil and injustice that reigns in the world, you can only agree, but when it is suggested that you too are a sinner deserving of God's condemnation , you react. And yet the Bible formally declares : “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23).

What is the cure ? Turn to God. He forgives those who repent and believe in the Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
