Encounters with Jesus : You ?
You love him without having seen him, you believe in him without seeing him yet and you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy. 1 Peter 1.8
It’s the last day of the year and we’re coming to the end of this calendar. Its authors wanted to share with you the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. They encouraged you to put your faith in him and thus be reconciled to God. The passages from the Bible they cited are the Word of God : through it we can know this God who sent his Son for the salvation of the world (John 3:17).
Among these pages, you have been able to read the accounts of several people who have met Jesus. Some reacted positively to his call to follow him, others not...
The Christians to whom Peter sent his letter did not see Jesus. But, like you, they have heard of him. Who told them the gospel ? We do not know it ; the important thing is what happened next :
- They believed in Jesus, they rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.
- God gave them birth to new life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- They have a living hope.
- God has in heaven an imperishable inheritance for them.
- They are guarded by the power of God for this salvation which will be fully revealed at the end of time.
You will find all these wonders in the reading offered below. They are promised to all who believe in Jesus Christ today without having seen him. My prayer at the end of the year is that you will be one of them !
