Endure like Jesus
Search the Scriptures
Let us run(...) fixing their eyes on Jesus, the head and finisher of faith, who, because of the joy that was before him, endured the cross, having despised the shame, and sits at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12.1-2 Darby Version
Everything has in general two complementary sides. The cross, for example, represents both the crucifixion and the resurrection. Jesus had to endure the first in order to experience the second. If he hadn't, we wouldn't have a trespass-forgiving Savior.
Jesus bore the pain in order to obtain the prize that lay on the other side : the resurrection. Like him, we have to go through difficult situations and events. The verb "to endure" means to resist the relentlessness of Satan, by being persistent enough to go through the test and emerge victorious from this tunnel.
Whether you are struck by an unexpected circumstance, painful because of your resistance or a mistake on your part, whether you are suffering in the face of temptation or as a result of sin, you must overcome these trials. Think of what awaits you on the other side of the difficulty, of the joy of obtaining the prize, the right fruit.
Today, be encouraged by the way Jesus handled trials. He knew the joy ahead of him and persevered to the finish line. He has given you the power to do the same.
Listen the voice of God
You may be going through difficult times, temptations, trials, injustice. Listen to God remind you that he is with you to bring you to the other side.
Whatever you are going through at this moment and, despite the attacks of Satan who wants to destroy you, God is with you. Here is a prayer for today : "Lord, I want to be able to endure hardships like Jesus. Help me see a vision of the joy that awaits me when I get the trial that stands in my way."
Praise God
Jesus Christ experienced suffering on Earth. He was tempted by the devil, scourged and crucified. He bore all these things for you, for your salvation, your forgiveness, and thinking of you. It's so huge that you can't even imagine it, right ? So praise him, praise him with all your heart for all he has done just for you !
Act today
You may be tempted to give up in the face of the difficulties and temptations you are experiencing. The Lord urges you to persevere in order to obtain the prize. To help you, you can look at how he triumphed over the trials. His power is within you. Think about what awaits you after, the joy of having persevered and held on until the end. Jesus has prepared a home for you in heaven.
Honor the Lord
Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you, Dad, for your power in me and for the joy of salvation, which is my strength in trial. To you be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
