Engrave it on your heart !
Habakkuk 2.2 (BFC) – The Lord answered me thus : “Write what I reveal to you, engrave it on tablets so that it can be read clearly”.
Probably the most difficult thing in the Christian life is waiting ! God speaks to us in promises and we welcome them with enthusiasm, then comes the terrible test of waiting, a test that arouses in us all kinds of reactions, which can produce the deepest valleys of despair.
One of the last words of the Lord Jesus on earth was : “Wait”! (Acts 1.4). This wait only lasted 10 days, but you know from experience, there are many longer than that. The Jewish people were waiting for the coming of the Messiah and Simeon will be able to rejoice when he sees Jesus in the temple, but it will be another thirty years before He exercises his ministry. This wait was so long that the Jewish people did not recognize their Messiah.
And that is the danger, time erases the memory and the promise fades to the point of disappearing from our confidence. Yet God's promise is sure and it will be fulfilled.
The Lord gives us a “secret,” write the promise, and return to read it often. Do like Mary who kept and reviewed these things in her heart (Luke 2:19). Engrave what God has promised you on the tablets of your soul ! This will allow the fire to remain lit and above all to see, like Simeon, the first fruits of fulfillment. Nurturing the Word of God to you will give you courage and determination. In the dark hours of your life, she will be like a beacon in the night.
Waiting is constructive in that it creates in us patience, endurance and perseverance. Jesus also gave us this promise : “He will avenge them speedily !". Still, his chosen ones must cry out to Him day and night! (Luke 18.7 and 8). The promise that God has made to you is a contract on his honor signed by his blood. So keep this contract carefully and read it often.
Good reflection !
