Eternity

I believe that the sufferings of the moment are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed for us. Romans 8:18

Nowhere does the Bible teach that Christians should be exempt from the tribulations and natural disasters that afflict the world. It teaches that the Christian can face tribulations, crises, calamities and personal sufferings with a supernatural power which is not available to the person outside of Christ. The early Christians were able to experience joy in their hearts amid hardship, turmoil and depression. They saw suffering for Christ not as a burden or a misfortune, but as a great honor, as proof that Christ considered them worthy to testify of him by suffering. They never forgot what Christ himself had gone through for their salvation ; and suffering for his name was considered a gift rather than a cross. Christians can rejoice in tribulations because they have in mind the values ​​of eternity. When pressures are exerted, they look beyond their current situation towards the glories of the sky. The thought of future life with its prerogatives and joys helps to make the trials of the present light and fleeting.

Prayer for the day

Father, help me to overcome the afflictions and tribulations of our time and to look towards the heritage that is reserved for us in heaven.
