Even in suffering, God does not forget you

As he arrived at the gate of the city, he met a funeral procession : the only son of a widow was buried, and many of the inhabitants of the city followed the procession, and the Lord saw the widow and was pitied ; She said to him : "Do not weep !" Luke 7: 12-13

In His grace God does not save you when you are afflicted. There are many passages in the Word where the Lord Himself accepts and understands suffering. Your grief does not frighten him, nor disturb him to the point of avoiding you as a helpless friend might do.

The most beautiful dreams, the most moving songs, and the poems that make our soul tremble, are often born in times of intense suffering. Lately, I saw a documentary where poor people found themselves by the hundreds in the parking lot of a large area. As a result, the usual customers did not dare come, the precarious conditions of these people inconvenienced them. In the face of so much suffering, consumers were disturbed. They preferred to bypass the desolation and go to another store, more than thirty kilometers, rather than being confronted with indigence.

I have good news to announce to you : the Lord will not bypass you to avoid you. No, he wants to join you where you are, in your affliction, and restore yourself. Today, if you no longer have the strength to pray, and tears replace the words, do not forget that Christ collects your tears that express your supplications, your despair.

The most beautiful dreams, the most moving songs, and the poems that make our soul tremble, are often born in times of intense suffering. Yea, "He that weepeth when he soweth shall cry with joy when he reapeth : he goeth away weeping to cast the seed : he shall come again, crying with joy, bearing his sheaves of corn" (Psalm 126: 5-6).

A prayer for today

Lord, I know that you "hear" my tears and that you do not bypass my suffering. Thank you for your presence by my side, amen.
