Exceed preconceived ideas

"He took his staff in his hand, chose in the stream five polished stones, and put them in his shepherd's bag and in his pocket. Then, with his sling in his hand, he advanced against the Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:40).

When David bent over to take the five polished stones, the common people had to ask themselves : "How can this young man come forward ? He's not even a soldier ! He has a shepherd's bag as a weapon holder ! He is a shepherd ! What will he do with these stones ?!". They had preconceived ideas. They thought that to kill a giant, or simply to be on a battlefield, you had to be strong and armed to the teeth.

It is likely that, as it has happened to me before, you do not feel great against the Philistines around you. You may say to yourself : "What would I do with my 5 little verses ? I am not even trained and I am not an evangelist. What can I say to this person who does not know the Lord ?".

We often have preconceived ideas. We think that God can use this type of people, and we always exclude ourselves. It is thought that such a ministry can heal a paralytic, but that it will take years of consecration, fasting, and prayer to get to that, if that happens to us one day. And we disqualify ourselves. We think that our stones are not enough, but from these stones God can raise offspring. We do not have to be "armed to the teeth" to win a soul. We need a lot of love. And that love, God poured it into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

We have enough love to touch a life. We have enough love to manifest the glory of God. We have enough love to be inspired. You may look like a shepherd in front of the big soldier, but the shepherd's heart has the ability to melt the soldier's heart. You can win a soul, by dint of love.
