Expecting God

"The Lord is good for those who expect him, for the soul that seeks him. It is a good thing to wait, and in the silence, the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations of Jeremiah 3: 25-26

Many verses of the Bible enjoin us to expect the Lord. They are accompanied by :

- encouragement : "Wait for the Lord ; Strengthen yourselves, and let your heart be firm : yea, wait for the Lord" (Psalms 27:14).

- a promise : "Wait for the LORD and he will save you" (Prov 20:22)

- of an action to be carried out : "Wait for the Lord, and keep his way" (Psalms 37: 34).

In many other verses, the faithful recall that he expected the Lord : "It is to you that I expect all day" (Psalm 25: 5) or "The eyes of all Expect you" (Psalm 145, 15).

But, what is "waiting for God" ?

To wait for God is more than to rely on him, it is to direct all my attention on him in an intense anticipation, full of hope of what he is going to accomplish for me. It implies trusting in my whole being, instead of trying to control everything by myself. It is living by counting on him every day and every hour. This is how God had foreseen that we should pass our earthly existence. The human being had been conceived so that he would be aware of the divine presence in all his daily activities.

God has promised many blessings to him who expects him: renewed strength, the possibility of crossing the earth without being overwhelmed by circumstances, the consciousness, always on the alert, of his active presence ... Expecting God Makes it possible to render him continual grace, to live in absolute dependence on him and to be willing to do his will in all circumstances. Such an attitude allows us to have intense and profitable relationships with our Father.

My God, give me to wait for you all day and every day. You have promised : "Those who expect the LORD will renew their strength ; They will rise with wings like eagles ; They will run and will not tire, they will walk and will not grow tired" (Isaiah 40:31). Which program !
