Jesus told one of the most religious men of his day : "You must be born again" (John 3:7). Nicodemus could not substitute his profound knowledge of religion for a spiritual rebirth, nor can we. I read a book about water skiing and it did not take me long to learn that I could never learn to water ski while reading a book - I would have to know it.

I have read several books on golf, but none of them seem to improve my game ; I have to go out on the golf course and play. You can study theology and religion, but there comes a time when you have to experience Christ for yourself.
