Express your grief to the Lord
Are you the only one staying in Jerusalem who does not know what has happened there these days ? Luke 24:18
Looking back, this scene may seem laughable. Two men leave Jerusalem to go to Emmaus. For them, this road is synonymous with disappointment. They had put their hope in Jesus; but this one died on the cross. It's finish. Well, at least that's what they think! Jesus, whom they do not recognize, joins them. One of them, named Cleopas, turns to the Lord and says to him : "Are you the only one staying in Jerusalem who does not know what has happened there these days ?"
Funny isn't it ? If anyone understood what had happened, it was Jesus ! And if a person was totally lost, it was Cleopas... Yet to his question the Lord will answer : "What ?"
What a delicacy... Rather than humiliating or berating them, the Lord will make them speak. With this “What ?” Jesus invites them to express their pain. The Lord does not reject or condemn those who suffer. "Happy are those who mourn," he said in his Sermon on the Mount. Jesus does not despise those who cry, but he understands their pain. Then he helps them raise their heads.
"Jesus invites you to share with Him the suffering or misunderstanding you are facing."
Jesus invites you to share with him the suffering or misunderstanding you are facing, perhaps due to the ordeal you are going through. Have no fear, he is not a man to lecture you or lecture you about your lack of faith. Rather, it will help you restart.
Sometimes it is good to "empty your bag" and express your misunderstandings. Your God has a heart and when an unfortunate person cries out he hears it. Even your tears are prayers for him! To your question : "Why does this happen ?", Even though the Lord knows the answer, He answers you : "What ?"
An action for today
Through prayer, come before God to express your suffering, your incomprehension, and let him help you raise your head.
