Face the accuser !
Job 1:9 – And Satan answered the Lord : “Does Job fear God unselfishly ?".
The book of Job may be a poetic book, but it is nonetheless full of very realistic teachings ! And one of these teachings is that the devil does not hesitate to "massacre" you with his slander before the throne of God ! Besides, doesn't Revelation tell us the same thing : "The accuser of our brothers was cast down, who accused them before our God day and night" (Revelation 12:10).
Yes Job was a man of integrity and no he was not "interested" in his relationship with his God. He feared God because he had heard of Him and sought to please Him with what little knowledge he had of Him. But the devil likes to twist things, to create suspicion, to smear all that is beautiful... He takes malicious pleasure in casting doubt, in suggesting that behind noble feelings, there are vile and condemnable. And do not think that this dirty work, he only does it before the throne of God ! Nonstop, it does its dirty work in our ears, injecting doubt deep into our thoughts. With 5% pseudo truth, it is 100% perversion !
Let me tell you that backbiting of any kind is devilishly inspired, and he who lends his mouth to it is directly inspired by hell (James 3:6).
Faced with this scourge, my beloved, only one remedy : “But they overcame it with the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11). It is by putting us under the blood of the Lamb, who fully justifies us, that his lion's "mouth" will be closed. Job did not yet know about the sacrifice of Jesus but we, today, are its beneficiaries. When the devil backbits you, don't answer those sad accusations, but say loud and clear : "God justifies me" (Romans 8:33).
May the Lord of grace do you good with these few words.
