False security

So do not worry and say : What shall we eat ? What will we drink ? What will we dress in ? Indeed, all this, it is the members of other peoples who seek it. Now, your Heavenly Father knows you need it. Seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God and all of this will be given to you in addition. Matthew 6.31-33

False security

Many of us live in a certain comfort: some savings, a good material situation, health... This gives an impression of security. There is nothing wrong with that. But let's try to put things into perspective, this is far from being the case for everyone. And who maintains the peace and the favorable conditions to enjoy this life ? Are we not just stewards of our property ? They don't belong to us forever. Very rich people are sometimes morally miserable. Money does not buy peace of heart or entry into the kingdom of God. It does not guarantee happiness.

The Bible tells the story of a rich man who once said to himself : "My soul, you have much good in store for many years ; rest, eat, drink, and rejoice." But God said to him : "Man devoid of good sense ! This very night your soul will be asked for again, and what you have prepared, for whom will it be ?" (Luke 12.19,20).

Where in the world can we find in a sustainable way : security, peace, true happiness ? God alone gives them in Jesus. Jesus "made peace through the blood of his cross" : he forgives those who repent of their faults. He conquered death and rose from the dead. Jesus gives you eternal life if you believe in him. You will then be safe. He said : "No one can pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:28). He also said : "Heap up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy" (Matthew 6:20). These true, eternal riches are now within the reach of those who have Jesus for Savior and Lord.
