All the people of Israel have disobeyed your law. He moved away from you so as not to listen to your teachings. We have sinned against you, our God. Then the curse contained in the law of Moses, your servant, fell on us. Daniel 9.11
File the balance sheet
This is said when a company can no longer pay its debts and declares it to the commercial court. On a personal level, this can be said of a person who declares himself defeated, who admits having failed ; more colloquially, the person says that they have “failed”.
On the spiritual level, this amounts to recognizing having sinned, marking the beginning of an awareness : the situation is serious in front of the divine requirements. The next step, repentance, leads to resorting by faith to the forgiving grace of God.
Such is Daniel's approach to the Lord, speaking on behalf of his people. A clear recognition of the situation is essential. It is not the commercial tribunal that awaits us, but the tribunal of God !... if we do not declare to it our failure to live without it. "File the balance sheet", admit our wrongs before God, is not easy, even if God already knows everything. The Spirit of God convicts us to do it, to set us free. Expressing it allows you to (re)start a real relationship of trust in him.
“Thank you Lord for being able to start afresh by your grace, after having failed and missed the target ! »
