Floating wreck

Floating wreck

Floating wrecks or “floating pitfalls” are pieces of damaged boats that float between two waters, with the currents. Before the invention of sonar, ships saw them only at the last moment. Invisible and formidable, they sometimes caused irreparable damage.

This makes us think of the bad thoughts that we unconsciously allow to develop in us, these "little sins" (lies of circumstance, hypocritical praise, various frauds, unhealthy videos) which seem insignificant to us. Hardly visible, they are all the more pernicious and devastating as they remain hidden. Our false appreciation of these sins prevents us from seeing them in their true light and from examining the real state of our hearts in the divine light. We must judge them without delay and forsake them : “He who conceals his transgressions does not prosper, but he who confesses them and forsakes them obtains mercy” (Proverbs 28:13).

Living superficially is proof that we have strayed from God. Our relationship with Him is flawed. We deprive ourselves of his fellowship and approval, a source of strength, peace and joy. The state of our heart, that is the important thing, that is what God looks at ! “Guard your heart more than anything else, for out of it come the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

So let's be sure to turn on our "spiritual sonar", by reading and meditating on the Bible with prayer. The Lord will keep us clean from evil in all its forms, and will help us to live to please Him.
