Free access to the Father
Searching the Scriptures
Through him, in fact, we both have access to the Father through the same Spirit. Ephesians 2:18
During the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865, the White House, home of Abraham Lincoln, was assailed every day by people who wanted to see the President. They were mainly representatives of the government, parliamentarians, generals, diplomats, but also a whole population impatient to have an interview.
Everyone hoped to get a favor for themselves, for a relative or for a friend. A secretary would take their name and come back, saying : "You have to wait a while, the President can't see you right now."
In the midst of this crowd, a little boy had crept in, running past the sentry, waving his hand to the secretaries. He walked past them and, turning the doorknob, walked quietly into President Lincoln's office.
The people who were waiting showed their bad humor to see this child who entered like this, without ceremony, instead of waiting his turn, like them. But one of the secretaries said to them : "This is Ted, the President's son. And his father instructed them : « Never stop Ted from coming to me. »"
We ourselves have the privilege of having free access to our Heavenly Father, our God, the creator of the universe, the one who gave his son Jesus Christ, to save us and give us life. Jesus shed his own blood for us to pay for the consequences of our sin ! Let's wait no longer, let's go to him !
Let us always remember that we have much more than the President of the United States of America : the one true God, always ready to listen to us and meet our needs ! It is never further from us than the distance of a prayer.
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. You are his child and you have free access to your Heavenly Father. Ask God if anything is preventing you from fully living this privilege.
Praying is simple. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and He can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, may I, day after day, stop and take time in your presence. Help me to realize the immense privilege that I have of being your child and to behave like a child. as such."
Praise God
To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the lord
Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"My God, thank you for having sent Jesus your son so that I may pass spiritually from death to life and have free access to you, through the Holy Spirit. Yours is the kingdom, the power and glory forever. So be it !"
