"Abide in the things which thou hast learned and of which thou hast been fully convinced." 2 Timothy 3. 14
"What you have heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust it to faithful men who are able in their turn to instruct others." 2 Timothy 2: 2
"If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them." John 13:17
Learning and teaching
One assimilates better when one teaches. Take the example of computing. This tool offers many useful programs. But you have to learn how to use it. It is by dint of use that we know how to make them work properly. But there is an effective complementary way to achieve this : it is to teach them to one's spouse or a friend ! This is the way to understand the possibilities and to discover other applications. For, as a teacher, I am obliged to follow each step of a manual or a demonstration step by step and to assimilate it before going on to the next one. I have often experienced it ! Additional benefit: the numerous questions that my "pupil" will not fail to ask during the exercise will allow us to discover together unsuspected applications until then. "He that watereth shall be watered himself" (Prov.11: 25). "Give, and it shall be given to you" (Luke 6:38).
Sharing with others the knowledge we have gained in the Word will make us deepen and anchor them more surely in our minds and hearts. Timothy certainly experienced it (two first verses of the day) !
Yet it is necessary to confirm the teaching of the Word of God by example ! This principle, Paul reminds Timothy in this order : "Be the model of the faithful, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I come, attach yourself to reading [public reading], exhortation, teaching" (1 Timothy 4:12, 13).
Knowledge and Action
To know and not to put into practice is to know nothing. We quickly lose what we do not use, like the person in bed who sees quickly melt his muscle mass. The verbs "to know and to act" are also inseparable from the verbs "learn and teach" : "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them" (third verse of the day).
True knowledge translates into deeds. When knowledge and doing go together, it always results in a great blessing !
