From noises of victory

When we founded Times Square Church in 1987, we quickly realized that we were pastors of a modern day Corinthian church, one of the most carnal places in the world since the days of the New Covenant. It is for this reason that we had to preach a convincing message that would awaken the hearts. When we opened our doors for the first time, our meetings were attended by many Christians who worked in the entertainment industry, on stage, on television or in film. Some had chosen to remain in careers that clearly dishonor the Lord.

We wondered if we could evangelize unconverted people from the show, while those in our congregation were always involved in the less glamorous aspects of this work. So we preached a message of "separation" and the Lord began to take care of these people. Many of them have abandoned lucrative careers in show business and God has blessed them wonderfully. "Get out from among them, and separate, says the Lord" (2 Corinthians 6:17).

We discovered that God had kept a holy rest for Himself at Times Square Church, a people who loved His Word. At each meeting, people sat like hungry birds, their mouths wide open for food. Then they would take some tapes to their home, where they would be able to listen to them. Our church has experienced a spirit of repentance, a hunger to obey, and a willingness to conform to the Word of God.

As we all came under the power and guidance of the Word of God, whether pastors or members of the assembly, our meetings were filled with nothing but tears of repentance. The sanctuary was filled with sounds of victory, joy and happiness. There were great rejoicings, because we had begun to understand the great truth of the Word of God.

We have learned that in order to keep the joy of the Lord among His people, God calls for an even deeper work in our lives.
