"Towards morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place where he began to pray." Mark 1.35
The time you spend with God is the most important time of your day. That is why the choice of time and place is so vital. A certain regularity is necessary in this respect.
Find a special place to meet God.
Come before God at the same time each day. It is said in Mark 1:35 : "Towards morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a desert place where he began to pray. It is not because Jesus rose early to pray that you must necessarily do the same. The idea is to give God the best time of your day, the one where you are the coolest. For some, it's morning. As soon as you jump out of bed, you start on the hats. Others do not believe in God until eleven o'clock in the morning! But they are still busy at midnight !
What counts is to give God the best time of your day and schedule your personal worship in your schedule as you would any appointment.
Start smoothly. If you have never practiced personal worship until then, start with five minutes. Start modestly and gradually increase. If you try to spend an hour each day, you will not hold out for long. Your final goal should be not to come before God less than fifteen minutes a day. Who does not have fifteen minutes ?
Find a special place to meet God. Jesus had a privileged place where he came before the Father. Luke 22:39 says : "After he went out, he went according to his custom to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him." Jesus used to go to the Mount of Olives. He had a place where he came regularly to pray. What kind of place should you look for ? It should comply with the following conditions :
- Be aloof. Look for a place where you can be alone, quiet, where you will not be disturbed and where possible you can pray aloud.
- Be the same every day.
A suggestion for today
- Why not take the time now to define the time and place of your daily worship ? You can even talk to a close friend and commit yourself to respect them.
- Do you have the activities of your day that you pay the most attention to and for which you are never late and rejoice most ? Place your personal cult at the top of this list.
