Give Him the first place

"Make the LORD your delight, and he will give you what your heart desires." Psalms 37.4

To live for oneself in the unrestrained pursuit of one's interests without even giving a piece of time to God has long been my lifestyle. Although I went to church on a regular basis on Sunday, the fact was that it was just to please my wife. The worst moment was that of the offering, knowing that I was already struggling to pay our bills. I found this unsuited to our situation !

"When we give first place to God, we are happy to give ourselves what our heart desires."

King David understood that the true key to his happiness came exclusively from his devotion to God. "I ask the Lord a thing I seek : that I may dwell all my life in the house of the Lord, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple." Psalm 27.4

After some time of struggle, I finally realized that I had to give God the first place in my life. And today I can tell you, that in every aspect of my life, I see his hand act and meet innumerable needs. "Seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God, and all things will be given to you over it." Matthew 6.33.

And you ? Take a moment of reflection ! What place does God occupy in your heart ? Do you still have inner conflicts when he asks you to do something ? Is it central to each of your decisions ?

It sometimes seems so easy to put God in the background in our lives, believing that we find some solutions to our expectations for ourselves. Nevertheless, we should never forget that when we give God the first place, He will be happy to give us what our heart desires.

"Be attached to God, and you shall have peace, and you shall enjoy happiness." Job 22.21. The will of God should never be questioned by our human reflections. He must always have first place !

A proclamation for today

Lord, take the first place in my life! In the name of Jesus. Amen.
