"Put at your feet the zeal of the gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15).

 

You have certainly used or heard someone use this familiar expression : "Be well in your sneakers". This picture tells us about the state of mind of someone who feels good, who feels at ease, who is in peace and joy. This image is in opposition to that which says : "To be in his little shoes". The one who is in his little shoes is fearful, he is not at ease, he is worried, in a word, he is not at peace !

God invites you to wear shoes that will allow you to be at ease, in peace, even if the road is sometimes rocky and strewn with trials. Put on the Gospel of Peace !
Whoever walks on the path of the Gospel, following Jesus, will be wearing shoes of peace. When the Apostle Paul describes the armor of the believers, he is inspired by the equipment of the Roman soldiers. In their pack, there were special shoes, well attached to the ankles and wearing metal studs. These shoes gave them stability during walking or fighting, giving them the ability to stand even on slippery surfaces. The Gospel gives us stability, balance, and confidence. Sometimes we are forced to cross slippery, muddy, unstable terrain, or to fight in various events. If we walk by placing our trust in the promises of the gospel, this gospel will communicate to us a supernatural peace.

Observe what is happening on the ship where Paul and the other 275 people are going through a storm (Acts 27). The one who is reassuring, the one who is at peace, the one who comforts others, the one who will calm the anxieties of one and the other, is the apostle Paul! Why ? Because he wears the shoes of the Gospel at his feet.

Do you cross a storm ? Is your life shaken like a nut shell ? Are you like the disciples, frightened in the midst of the Sea of ​​Galilee, when Jesus is not there (Mark 6:45) ? He retired to pray, but he is not far off. He comes to them at three in the morning and reassures them, invites them to put on the shoes of the Gospel. " I'm here " ! Hear what the gospel tells you : "Discharge him from all your cares, for he will take care of you" (1 Peter 5: 7).

My prayer on this day :

Lord, thank you for offering me these shoes of the Gospel of peace, so that I may be steadfast and unshakeable even in the midst of the trials that I am going through. Thank you for the Gospel, the good news of Jesus who came to share our humanity, die for us and who, being risen, walks by our side. Amen !
