And he said : When the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept, for I said : Who knows that the LORD will not have mercy on me, and that the child shall not live ? Now that he is dead, why should I fast ? Can I get him back ? I will go to him, but he will not return to me." 2 Samuel 12.22-23
When things go wrong in your life, you have two choices : to stay defeated, depressed and give up. Or that of bouncing and moving forward.
Get up, wash your face, dry your tears ...
David chose to bounce back despite the death of his son. David's servants were confused by his behavior. At that time, when someone died, the custom was to fast and lie down in the dust, but David decided to fast while his son was still alive. And when he died, David understood that fasting could not erase what had been done. He put an end to his fast, washed himself, changed clothes, ate and went to comfort his wife.
When things take a bad turn in your life, choose the right attitude ! Staying dejected and depressed may bring compassion on the part of others, but it will not help you get up and move on to the plan God has for you. React differently, be resilient and bounce !
Action for Today
You can bounce ! Begin by posing some concrete acts both in the natural realm (here below) and in the spiritual realm, as David did. Get up, wash your face, dry your tears and eat a good meal. Then boldly state that "you are bouncing and moving forward."
