God change the mirages into real lake

"The mirage turns into a lake and the earth is altered into springs of water, the den where the jackals were lying becomes a park of reeds and rushes." Isaiah 35: 7

You have been walking in your desert for several months, even several years. Then, your dream comes true : an unexpected marriage, a long-awaited child, a promising work, a miraculous healing, a diploma opening the door to an extraordinary career. Wow, the door opens ! Full of joy, you will run, and there is the drama ... It was only a mirage, nothing more. From now on, you feel that your wish is constantly fleeing you. You take a step forward and your dream, in turn, makes it one back. Your faith takes a blow. You're disappointed. The victory was so close, a few steps from you ...

The mirage is a phenomenon well known in hot countries. It results from the unequal expansion of the layers of air which are in immediate contact with the burning surface of the desert. The rays of the sun are refracted in such a manner as to produce on the traveler the impression of a sheet of water which flees incessantly as he wishes to approach it.

Nevertheless, in this text of the Bible, the mirage is transformed this time into a real lake. This means that to the disappointing hopes will now succeed the perfect fulfillment of all that the elect have waited for.

If God is never late, he is rarely ahead. Everything is under his control : he knows the times and the circumstances. He is the one who decides to transform the mirages into a real lake. Trust him. There is a time for everything, and God makes all things beautiful in his time.

Forty years ago, my mother found herself alone with two children to raise in a city. After years of desert, with some mirages here and there, she saw her two sons give their lives to Jesus and become pastors. And a few weeks ago, the Lord gave her a husband. Glory to God, he changes the mirages into a real lake.

A prayer for today

Lord, come to transform my mirages into a real lake. I place in you all my confidence. Amen.
