It is this Jesus that God raised from the dead, we are all witnesses of it... God made both Lord and Messiah this Jesus whom you crucified. (Speech of the apostle Peter in Jerusalem) Acts 2. 32, 36
God fully satisfied
The work that Jesus had to do when he came to earth is summed up in this verse : “The Father sent the Son as Savior of the world” (1 John 4:14). Jesus “gave himself a ransom for all” (1 Timothy 2. 6). But the question now is : Has his work been recognized by God ? Was God satisfied with this sacrifice ? It is not about our appreciation of what Jesus did. Only that of God counts.
Yes, God was completely satisfied :
- He raised his Son from the midst of the dead, proof that sin had indeed been atoned for.
- He made him ascend to heaven under the eyes of his astonished disciples.
- Two angels announced : “This Jesus who was taken up into heaven from among you will come back in the same way as you saw him go to heaven” (Acts 1.11).
- Finally, God gave him a place of honor on his right, as evidenced by twenty New Testament texts. This place is the response of God to the challenge launched by men when Jesus was on the cross : “May God deliver him now if he loves him !” (Matthew 27.43).
Could we question the perfection of the salvation He offers us and the proof of which is given to us in such a way ? God is satisfied with the work accomplished by his Son, and offers his grace to all. It is up to everyone to turn to him in an attitude of repentance and gratitude, to benefit from it. “God our Savior... desires that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2, 3, 4).
