God instituted marriage

Thursday March 17, 2022

Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but they are one flesh. So let no man separate what God has joined together. Matthew 15. 5, 6

May marriage be honored by all. Hebrews 13.4

God instituted marriage

From the first pages of the Bible, we find the institution of marriage, the union of a man and a woman to love each other, to serve God together, to have children and to constitute a family. God makes known to us the basis of a happy marriage, it is what he desires for the couple.

Let's put our marriage in the hands of our almighty God, so that he gives love, confidence, joy and the pleasure of being together.

But in the marriage between believers, great difficulties sometimes arise, and some consider separation and even divorce. For those who want to live a life as a couple that honors God, their common aspiration will always be what unites, brings closer..., without ever considering the solution of a break. Through individual and common prayer, they can achieve victory and find peace. There is a signpost not to be crossed : "Let nothing stand in the way of your prayers (together)" (1 Peter 3. 7). Marriage is a commitment, which requires this dialogue with God and his Word, in order to repair what has been damaged or broken. The strength is not in us but in God who sees us, listens to us, and responds in one way or another to those who call on him with confidence.

Christians, let us not forget that the love produced by God in our hearts is a love that both gives and gives itself. "He does not seek his own interest" (1 Corinthians 13:5). In the context of marriage, he teaches everyone to think of their spouse before thinking of themselves. This love finds its model in Christ who loved the Church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25).
