God is completely gaga about you !

Searching the Scriptures

He (the Lord) will make you his greatest joy. He will keep silence in his love, then he will rejoice loudly over you. Zephaniah 3:17

Recently, as I looked at my 4 month old baby girl, Élisa, she gave me such a big smile that my heart jumped with joy. I gave him back a smile and lots of compliments! I'm actually completely gaga over my daughter ! It was then that God whispered in my ear : "You see, David, I am even more gaga about you than you are about your daughter !" What a surprise !

We who are used to fear of the Holy God may miss another of his facets. Created in his image, when we were ecstatic in front of our children, are we not behaving like him ?

This is what the Bible says about God : "The Lord your God [...] shines with happiness because of you, his love gives you new life, he cries out joyfully about you, as on a feast day." (Zephaniah 3:17)

When we read the Bible as a whole, we understand that the Father's plan has always been to have us reign with Jesus at his right hand in heaven. Our position today is already close to him, close to his heart. How does the Father bring us to him ?

He sent Jesus to take our condemnation on the cross. He adopts us in his family as his children by uniting us to Jesus. He takes us with Jesus to heaven !

The Bible explains it this way : "God raised us up and made us sit with him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2.6)

Today we are seated in a place of authority and security. We just have to turn our heads to discover the smile and joy of our heavenly Dad, who is completely gaga over us !

Let us confess together aloud, if you can, this magnificent passage from Ephesians 1:5-6 : "The Father loved us, he destined us beforehand to be his children whom he wanted to adopt by Jesus Christ. what, in his goodness, he wanted for us so that we celebrate the glory of his grace which he granted us in his beloved Son." Amen.

Listen to the voice of God

Let’s take the time to listen to what God means. Just as he did with David, let God whisper in your ear how he sees you and welcome his words.

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Lord, thank you for reminding me how much you love me and how much I mean to you. I welcome what you say about me with joy."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. What are your subjects of recognition today ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"My God, what a joy to know that you see me as your child and that you are gaga over me. I fully receive your love and I choose to look at myself through your divine mirror. Yours is the reign, the power and glory forever. So be it !"
