God is light

Search the Scriptures

This is the message that we have heard from him (Jesus Christ) and that we announce to you : God is light and there is no darkness in him. 1 John 1.5

John is keen to ensure that all of his readers have a correct understanding of the nature of God. He speaks with absolute certainty, with the authority of God himself.

He does not know God in a vague way, but has a personal relationship with him. He is his messenger, transmitting to others what "we have heard from him (Jesus Christ)".

This message is disconcertingly simple : "God is light". Here we learn important truths about the nature of God. He is light, with all that is associated with light : openness, revelation, hope, encouragement, clear vision, sure direction, blessing, goodness and holiness.

We also see that there is no trace of darkness in him. There is nothing that is misleading or negative, disturbing or prejudicial. Everything is good – even what we are unable to understand or explain.

We know that Jesus was sent "to give light to all who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death" (Luke 1:79). Millions of people around the world are still living in darkness. It is spiritual darkness that obscures every area of ​​their lives.

However, Jesus came to be the light of the world so that everyone who believes in him "would not dwell in darkness". He is the light :

. who reveals the truth

. that lights up even the darkest night

. that penetrates even the darkest mysteries

. who brings hope and salvation

Today, make sure you live in the light. Do not be afraid of God, but approach him with faith and trust and commit all your needs to him. Seek a more personal, intimate relationship with Him and dedicate your life to bringing the light of the gospel to the world.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Does God illuminate all areas of your life ?

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is a sample prayer : "Thank you, Father, for you are light. Thank you for sending Jesus to be the light of the world. Use me to touch lives with this good news. I dedicate my life to you. In the name of Jesus. Amen."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now, deepen what you have received. What can you put in place to apply what God has told you ? Write down concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, thank you because thanks to you, I no longer remain in darkness. I in turn want to be a light for the world. To you be the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
