God is our rock

Searching the Scriptures

He opened the rock, and water flowed ; they flowed like a river into arid places. Psalm 105.41

It is a picture of how God provides for his people, Israel. During the forty years of their wandering in the desert, arid and barren land where there was no cistern, no river or stream of water and where water was practically nonexistent, God provided them with plenty of water. He provided for it in a most unlikely way. He brought her out of a rock.

If you look at a boulder in the desert as I have on countless occasions, it has such an unmistakable hardness aspect that so few good things seem to come from it. But under the appearance of the rock, we understand that God himself was with his people.

God himself was the rock, and out of him came an abundance of food for his people. It was important for Israel to know what attitude to take when approaching the rock. At one point Moses was commanded to strike him, at another time he was commanded to speak to him and when he approached the rock in faith and obedience, water in abundance came out. of this stone seeming so hard and so tough and it flowed like a river in the desert.

This is often the case in our lives, when in a barren period everything seems to be lacking, but God is there. It is present in the form of a rock. It's there in the form of something seemingly tough and leathery, something we could complain about. But when we recognize God in it and approach it in faith and obedience, then the rock becomes the source of our supply.

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God what attitude He expects from you for this season of your life.

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Lord, help me to trust in you and to believe that you can turn the rock of my trial, of my hard and difficult situation, into living water."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, thank you, for you provide for my every need and I lack nothing. Yours be the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
