God is our security

Search the Scriptures

To him who is firm in his dispositions, you ensure perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Put your trust always in the Eternal, for the Eternal is the rock of all eternity. Isaiah 26:3-4

In the pyramid of needs according to Maslow, the needs for security, therefore for a stable and predictable environment, without anxiety or crisis, surprisingly precede the needs for belonging and love. But we are living in times when everything is uncertain: the pandemic, unemployment, the pillars of society which are in decline. Everything is likely to change from one day to the next.

In Treasures of the Faith by Charles Spurgeon, a 19th century British clergyman, we read :

“Often we see the wind of trouble grow stronger and become a storm that overthrows everything before it. men on whom we counted. The Lord Jesus is the glorious Man, the rock of the ages which never falls... Beloved Jesus ! How we bless you! Be praised because you are for us a refuge against the storm."

As it is written in Ecclesiastes 1.9, "there is nothing new under the sun". Centuries pass, but human experiences repeat themselves tirelessly. Our comfort is to know that the Eternal is always the same. He remains, for all generations, the rock on which we can rest, the faithful friend on whom we can lean, the benevolent father who provides our daily bread and who protects us. It is our stable environment that gives us peace of mind.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Is there an area of ​​your life that is affected by uncertainty ?

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, as the world lives more and more under the yoke of fear, help me not to be carried away by panic. I want to detach myself from all that worries me and keep my gaze fixed on you. I want to continue to seek my refuge in you, for you are my true security."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.
