God knocks on your door

"Why was there no one ? I called, Why did no one answer ? Is not my hand too short to redeem ? Have I not strength enough to deliver ?" Isaiah 50.2

It is said that a poor woman found in great pecuniary difficulties was visited by a benevolent man who came to see her to help her. He knocked at his door, but not receiving an answer, he concluded that she was absent and withdrew. Meeting her a little later, he told her about her gait and the desire that had inspired her.

Thousands of men and women are acting towards God as this woman ...

Oh ! Said she, was it you, sir ? As I regret it ! I thought it was the landlord who came to claim the rent, and since I did not have the necessary sum, I was afraid to open the door !

Thousands of men and women act with respect to God as this woman with regard to him who wished to be his benefactor. They think that when he knocks at the door of their hearts, God comes to demand something. What a mistake ! It comes on the contrary to give, not to claim the payment of your debt. He comes to deliver you from your distress and to give you an eternal inheritance.

"The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10.45

He often knocked on your door with love, he's been waiting for a long time. Ah ! What friend would you treat ?

"God emphasizes his love for us, in that when we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5.8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3.16

A commitment for today

Let us always be ready to open the door of our hearts in order to let the Lord come in. Here is what he promises us : "I stand at the door and knock : if someone hears me and opens the door, I will dine with him and him with me." Revelation 3.20
