God, our refuge

God is for us a refuge and a support, a help that never fails in distress. Psalm 46.2

If we had the opportunity to hike in the mountains, we all asked ourselves the question after a while of walking : Where is the refuge ? Or perhaps we see gathering clouds announcing a storm : Where is the refuge ?

These situations make me think of the difficulties that we can encounter in our lives. Trials are like those clouds that obscure the sun. In such circumstances we quickly realize that we need a refuge.

In several passages of the Bible, it is God who is presented as our refuge (Psalm 57.1), a tent where we are sheltered, a rock on which to lean (Psalm 27.5).

David, King of Israel, saw it himself during his eventful life : God is my rock, where I find shelter, my shield and the strength that saves me, my high retreat and my refuge. O my Savior ! You guarantee me violence. (2 Samuel 22.3)

Like the author of Psalm 46, let us trust in this God who is a help that never fails and who is by our side wherever we are !
