God revealed in Christ

"No one ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven." John 3:13

"God did not send his Son into the world that he might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him." John 3:17

God created man in his image, in his likeness. He breathed in him a breath of life in order to put him in relation with his Creator. But because of sin, God put an end to this relationship, which alone could fully satisfy the deep aspirations of man.

This creator God who hid himself from the gaze of the natural man, who is he ? "What is his name, and what is the name of his son ?" Asked Agur (Prov. 30, 4). Unless he reveals himself as he did to Noah, Abraham and others, he remains "the unknown God" (Acts 17:23).

Certainly he spoke many times in many ways by the prophets during the days when the people of Israel were the protege of the Lord. But at the end of those days, declares the Epistle to the Hebrews, "God spoke in the Son, the glory of his glory and the imprint of what he is" (Heb 1: 3).

Many declarations of Scripture testify to this unique fact in the history of mankind : "God was manifested in the flesh" (1 Timothy 3:16), "We have looked upon his glory, a glory as one (John 1:14), "In him dwells all the fulness of the deity corporeally" (Col. 2: 9), "He that saw me saw the Father" (John 14: 9), "No one has ever seen God: the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has made him known" (John 1:18). Jesus made God his Father known, not to judge those whom he met, but by revealing his grace : "God was in Christ, reconciling the world with himself" (2 Cor 5:19).

Whoever recognizes his faults and believes in Jesus Christ approaches the great God of heaven. He meets him as the savior God who will never ask for his sins again. It is the God of grace who loves him, who keeps him and in whom he can put his full confidence, for he does not change : "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and eternally" (Heb. 13. 8).
